BIRTH YEAR REGISTRATION Starting in Summer 2024, FYSA moved to a birth year registration for all age levels. The official governing organization of soccer in the United States, US Soccer, mandated this change in 2017. This article explains why US Soccer made the change as a part of its Player Development Initiative. The matrix included article to determine current division is outdated. A correct matrix for FYSA for Fall 2024 is below.  Please note that the matrix has updated with the start of the school year, therefore players may be in a different age group than they played in during the summer. 

Regular Registration closes December 19th.  Team assignments will be sent out by January 2nd.

Notice of Fee Adjustment for FYSA Futsal Leagues

Fairbanks Youth Soccer Association strives to keep our programs affordable and accessible for all families. Unfortunately, the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District has substantially increased gym rental rates for the 2025–2026 school year. As a result of this significant rise in facility costs, all player registration fees will increase by $25 beginning with the upcoming futsal season. We understand that any increase can be difficult, and we did not make this decision lightly. This adjustment is necessary to continue providing indoor soccer opportunities for our community. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we adapt to these changes together.

YOUTH REC LEAGUE

YOUTH ADVANCED REC LEAGUE

Refund Schedule: 

The first games will be Saturday, January 17th and the last games of the season will vary per age division. Due to limited Saturday gym availability some divisions may have BYE weeks. 

Practices - All practices are scheduled by FYSA and will start the Week of January 12th. Practices will occur at local school gyms in the evenings on weeknights. They are 1 hour long. Practices are led by FYSA volunteer coaches. 

Games - All Games are scheduled by FYSA.

• U6-U12 Games will occur at local school gyms between 12pm-6pm on Saturdays. They are approximately 1 hour long. 
• U19 Games will vary between Friday evenings 6PM-9PM and Saturdays 12PM-6PM based on gym availability. 

Schedules: 

Schedules are not finalized until after regular registration closes. This allows FYSA the opportunity to evaluate the registration numbers in each age division and determine appropriate gym space and practice times for each team.  FYSA is not able to provide estimated times or locations for any of our youth divisions prior to the release of schedules on January 2nd. To assist in your schedule planning for you player we have provided the estimated practice days for each division. Please note North Pole teams only practice in North Pole, all games are located in Fairbanks. 

Gear pick up and purchase can be done the week of January 5th at the FYSA Winter office. Please see below for your Pick up day. All gear pick will be held from 4PM-7PM. 

U10- Starting Fall of 2025 FYSA has transitioned U10 Advanced Recreation division into Grassroots. This division is lead by USSF C Licensed Eclipse Soccer Coach David Powers. Please Click here to learn more

FYSA has an advanced recreational division for players in our U12 divisions. This league is designed for players seeking a little bit more challenge in their soccer experience. For more information about the Midnight Sun FC division click here.

U6 DIVISION DESCRIPTION

• Our first full-length season, this league is a fun, developmental league for players born in 2020
• Practices will be held on weeknights, games will be held on Saturdays. 
• Teams will be scheduled for 8 practices and 8 games. Please be aware that while we’ll strive to follow this schedule, we may not be able to offer makeups for cancelled sessions due to limited gym space.
• Teams are generally no larger than eight players.
• Matches are 4v4 with no goalkeeper and played on a small-sided 4v4 pitch.
• Matches are played without referees and coaches are allowed on the court to assist players.
• Players will play at least 50% of the time in matches.
• This league is appropriate for both players with previous soccer experience and players new to soccer.
• A standard blue & green FYSA reversible jersey is required and may be purchased at registration.
• This league is coed.

U8 DIVISION DESCRIPTION

• This division is designed for young developing players, our U8 league is a fun-oriented developmental division for players born in 2019 & 2018.
• Practices will be held on weeknights and games will be held on Saturdays. 
• Teams will be scheduled for 8 practices and 8 games. Please be aware that while we’ll strive to follow this schedule, we may not be able to offer makeups for cancelled sessions due to limited gym space.
• Teams are generally no larger than eight players. Matches are 4v4 with no goalkeeper and played on a small-sided 4v4 court.

• Designed for all players looking for a fun-oriented league, our U19 recreational league is for adolescent players born in 2011, 2010, 2009 or 2008.
• Players born in 2007 may play if their 19th birthday is after July 31, 2025.
• Practices will be held on weeknights and games will be held on Saturdays. 
• Teams will be scheduled for 8 practices and 8 games. Please be aware that while we’ll strive to follow this schedule, we may not be able to offer makeups for cancelled sessions due to limited gym space.
• Matches are 5V5 with a goalkeeper and played on a full-size court.
• Teams are generally no larger than ten players.

Every season our number one worry is whether we will have enough coaches or not.  Being a non-profit organization we greatly depend upon volunteers in order for our season to be successful. We don't expect every parent to volunteer each season, but we do highly encourage you to consider it at least once.  For more information, click here. 

FYSA highly suggests you download the SportsEngine app through any app store for free to stay up to date with your team's game and practice schedule. Many teams also choose to use the team messaging function that is easily accessible through the app. Be sure to use the same username that you used when registering your player.
